Dog of the Day #2

Hi guys!
I saw how much attention my pal, Roly Poly, got, when he was featured on here, so I thought I would give it a go myself, as I could also really need a forever home!
So, let me begin with a proper introduction: My name is Tufty, and I have been at the Shelter since June 2015. To be honest I was really scared, when I was first brought up to the Shelter. As you see I am a bit on the timid side, and since I didn't know anyone and it was all new surroundings for me, it was quite intimidating! Time went by and as I got to know my cares and the dogs I share my pen with I began to feel safe. Since then things have only improved. I go out for walks everyday, play with my friends and have some long cuddle sessions with my cares - which I love! All in all I like it at the Shelter but a year has gone by now, and I have seen some of my best friends leave for their forever homes, and I have to admit that it would be nice to have a human of my own. One who I can trust, who will take me out for long walks and give me lots of cuddles! I know that in the right home with lots of love (and a bit of training) I would flourish and become even braver. I just really hope it's my turn now.
Love, Tufty. xxx

As I said before, I really enjoy my cuddles!
Me and my friends. Three of them have already left during the summer, and the last one is just waiting to go for his forever home.
Me and my pal, Giddy, see just left last week.
Beano and I. He is looking for a forever home too!

#7 A Month at the Shelter

As we wrote in our last post, enough money had been funded as well as raised by ourselves, and we went back to the Shelter. We were there for about a month (which of course was not enough and we miss it already) and once again we have returned home many irreplaceable memories richer and have again been blessed with a lot of new friends (of both the two- and four legged kind!).
Throughout the visit we had the pleasure of being foster mums to three lovely pups. We saw many dogs come and go, both old residents (like Sprocket Rocket who had been at the Shelter for 3 years!) as well as new ones. The weather was really hot but luckily it didn't prevent the hundreds of lovely tourists coming by every day donating both their time and money to the dogs. This time around we were not the only volunteers; the sweet Rosalie, who had arrived shortly after we left the last time, had been working a lot with Beano (a dog who has been at the Shelter for 3 years, who we've never been able to touch and socialize with), and after about 2-3 months of working with him she could finally take him out walking and since this he has just been improving every day and now even tourists can take him out walking! Instead of boring you with a novel about our adventures, we will stop now and share some pictures of the dogs.

Untill next time,

xx Matilde & Emma

Lovely star with Matilde, might have an interested family.

Happy little Leo, we saw him get dumped at the parking lot one day during tea time :-(

Emma's 21st birthday was celebrated at the Shelter. A day she will never forget <3

Dog Of The Day #1

Dog Of The Day #1

My name is Havana and I have now been at the Shelter for about 6 years, which makes me the longest running resident. Therefore I think that it must be my turn to find my very own forever home! So allow me to introduce myself:
When I first arrived at the shelter with 11 of my friends we were all very frightened, but after a while we became more secure as we found out the people around us were not trying to hurt us. Time passed and I watched happily as all my friends took off towards their new lives one by one but soon came to realize that this made me the last one standing. I think the reason might be that I am not very good at giving out first impressions, as I am a bit timid and probably will not greet you within seconds like most other dogs I know. The thing is though, that when I get to know you and you me, I am a very trusting, gentle and loyal companion, who loves cuddles and attention as much as the next dog - you just have to give me the chance to prove it to you!
I like my walks, though not when I am disturbed by other dogs trying to approach me and interrupt. As I mentioned before I have seen many of my friends come and go; recently my good friend and roommate, Mr.Beckham left for Denmark. This turned out to be a silver lining as I now got to spend time with my new good friend the golden lab Larry, who is my total opposite, but for some reason I get along greatly with, though I already have to deal with yet another goodbye, when he too will leave for Denmark soon.
At this point it is starting to feel unfair to me (don't get me wrong,  I am happy for my friends!) but the fact that they all leave and I am still here is making me sad -yet hopeful that someday it will be my turn to meet my owner to whom I would be very loyal. So I really hope that someone out there will give me a chance and be patient with me, so I in return can show them nothing but affection and love and be the best companion I can be!

#6 Return to Skiathos! - Thanks!

Since our return to Denmark in the beginning of June the only thing on our minds has been "How do we return to Skiathos as fast as possible?!". As it turns out we have been so fortunate to meet a lot of the most generous and helpful people you could imagine during our stay in Skiathos who have gone above and beyond to help us in getting back. In no time they had set up a fundraiser and and this is when we experienced how many kindhearted and selfless people are associated with the Skiathos Dog Shelter. Quickly we had already raised a lot, unfortunately this still was not enough and we eventually came to terms with the fact that we probably would not be returning this summer after all. Recently we were again blessed with good luck and each of our respective families pitched in and helped us out in the last minute!
Now we have just booked our flights and will return to Skiathos on July 23rd, and we could not be more pleased!!
So to finish off we would like to thank you all so much for your contributions, support and help. We are utterly grateful and astonished that we have recieved so much help from so many people, both from the people at the Shelter and others who have just shown their support for the shelter and have had an interest in helping the dogs there.

We will be sure to keep you updated with new ta(i)les when we return. xxx
